DENTAL THERAPIST
New for 2008 Restrictions have recently been lifted by The General Dental Council on the services and tasks which can be offered by Dental Therapists, hygienists, and nurses, provided, of course, that they have received appropriate training.
Eventually all Dental Hygienists will be trained as Dental Therapists.
We are now delighted to be able to introduce two part-time Dental Therapists who will provide new Dental Services to our practice begining in the Spring of 2008
What is a Dental Therapist ? A Dental Therapist is a dental professional whose training falls between that of a dentist and a dental hygienist. They provide all the services normally expected of a dental hygienist but in addition can carry out fillings too. All the more advanced dental services such as Crowns, Root fillings, implants, Smile Makeovers, Bridgework and Dentures are still provided solely by a dentist.
Lower or Frozen Fees ! By freeing Richard’s time to focus attention on advanced treatments, we will be able to reduce our fees for some filling treatments and avoid fee increases during 2008 for many others.
Our Dental Therapist will be trained in the use of
The Wand® anaesthetic technique so if you have benefitted from this more comfortable way of “freezing” a tooth, this will still be available.
The Diagnodent® laser tooth-dacay detector, where early detection means much smaller fillings or Sealant fillings
Who are the New Team Members?
