Dental Emergencies
We usually reserve time for emergencies every day. We would expect to be able to help you out of your immediate difficulties normally within 30 minutes of seeing you.
The following is intended to help you
What is a dental emergency requiring urgent treatment?
1) Facial swelling which is getting worse
2) Severe pain not helped by normal pain killers (Ibuprofen, Anadin etc) and which wakes you from sleep or stops you sleeping
3) Unexpected bleeding following tooth removal
4) Traumatic injury to teeth, for example after a fall or assault which loosens or knocks out a tooth ot teeth
What is NOT a dental emergency but which should be treated at the next available time during normal hours?
1) A chipped or broken filling
2) A lost crown
3) Bleeding gums
What can you expect when you attend for a dental emergency?
- Pain relief for nerve damaged teeth.
- Control of unexpected bleeding.
- Splinting of teeth loosened by accidental damage.
- Refixing of teeth knocked out if at all possible.
- Extractions where there is no other options.
- Temporary fillings for back teeth.
- Attention to ulcers or other painful mouth conditions.
- Permanent or temporary filings for front teeth.
- Crowns refixed permananly if possible or temporarily if this is not possible.
Fees
Fees vary according to the problem and time required for treatment but are likely to range from £60 - £140
